Important information regarding student ID cards

In accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Science of February 25, 2021, a temporary limitation of the operation of certain entities of the higher education and science system was introduced in relation to the prevention, counteraction and combating COVID-19. From the moment the restriction is lifted pursuant to Art. 51b paragraph. 4 of the Act – Law on Higher Education and Science, during the period of suspension or limitation of the functioning of universities and for 60 days after its termination, student ID cards and academic teachers’ ID cards are valid, without the need to confirm their validity. This provision also applies to cards that expired within 30 days preceding the limitation or suspension of the university’s operation. Similar regulations regarding the validity of doctoral student ID cards are included in Art. 198b of the Act – Law on Higher Education and Science.

This means that the ELS, which expires on March 31, 2021, continue to be valid without the need to extend it at the Teaching Service Center.
